Welcome to Technology part 2, now I know what you’re thinking, how many parts can there be? Well no worries there are only three parts of this and you’ll enjoy every minute of it, I hope. In this section we will be talking about methods of communication, the first item we will be talking about is Social Media. Everyone knows what social media is, weather it’s twitter, Instagram, Tumblr or Snapchat; they are things that could either help you or hurt you. Me I have Instagram and Tumblr, I don’t post a lot of stuff much, but it’s nice to have those types of social media if you talk to someone that isn’t in your same area so to speak. If you have a significant other that lives in another state or country then Social media is good for you to stay in touch, though as we use social media we sort of lose ourselves along with it. We crave likes on our pictures, or responses and that’s not right, we never used to crave that attention from people we didn’t care about before.
Then you have Email, Email is a great invention that allows you to send electronic mail through the internet to other people, it’s useful because when you are thinking about applying for a job you need an Email. Email helps you communicate with a lot of people and I remember when I first created my first email address, we had to do a project for school, and we needed to make an Email for our teacher so she could see how the progress went and I still have it to this day. Now do I use it Primarily as my main one? no, but who doesn’t have multiple Emails. It’s just another thing to have when using the internet.
Next we have Wiki’s and Blogs, now if you have spent a lot of your time on the internet then you know a lot about these two items. Blogs are what you are reading, people writing down their thoughts to other people, and I personally like blogs because I believe it can help people. If you have social anxiety or have a hard time talking to people, then writing a blog is perfect, because it’s like talking to other people who like the same things as you and you may even find a friend. Wiki’s are websites that allow you to create, delete and edit information, there are many different Wiki’s for many different subjects; and it’s like you’re having a debate with other people when you edit those Wiki’s or add information. You’re talking to other people in a way, yet giving them more information about different subjects as well.
Next you have Podcasts and Webcasts, when you think of podcasts you think of people talking about regular everyday things. Podcasts and Webcasts have become the new books in a way, people want to know what’s going on in other people’s minds and have a discussion about many topics. Now if you are an older person and don’t like to sit there and listen to someone then I believe you are more suited for a webcast. They are visual and help you see the actual interview instead of just sitting there wondering what the expressions look like, did they find what they said amusing? You know that type of stuff, my mother is like that “I love interviews, weather it’s a celebrity or not, just seeing them interact with one another is better than having Alexa read me my book.” So if you don’t like podcasts I would recommend you try webcasts because they are interviews that you can see.
Finally we have the last subject of Technology part 2 and that is streaming media.
Streaming media has come a long way from when it was just sharing files over the internet, now a lot of people prefer streaming their favorite shows from Hulu and Netflix. It has become a lot more affordable to watch TV, sure some people still have cable, but it’s a lot more expensive to have cable TV then to have Hulu for 9.99 a month. Me personally I have Netflix and Hulu because it has so much content and you can watch what you would watch on regular TV for a cheaper price.
